yeah, you’re right, it could be done, but with chip manufacturing it always takes 10 years to get the factories into production mode, and basically many chip manufacturers aren’t confident enough yet that the memory shortage will still be a thing by then.
It may sound unlikely, but valve is nowhere near the size of would need to be for that. Also the fabs that actually make the ram are owned by like 2-3 companies world wide. Everyone just rents time slots in those, booked many years in advance. It costs billions and takes many years to build more of those. The machines used in them are made by exactly I’ve company world wide.

You can get older process/slower clocked memory right now. But that’s not what you want in a gaming pc.
