Even before fascism as we know it today existed, this would still technical be a fascist symbol, because that bundle of stick is literally called “fasces”. Fasces-ism, fascism.
But technicalities aside, it’s not a great symbol anyway, originally representing nothing more or less than beheadings and a rule of terror through fear.
Yeah, I get it. But I would wager a lot of the people who work in that room have no idea about any of that. (Unless they have some sort of orientation explaining it or something.)
I’m all for getting rid of that symbol. Its just a lower priority to me than removing “IN GOD WE TRUST” from everything.

Also, these speeches are watched by millions, it’s enough if some of them understand the fascist dog whistle to spread the ideology, strengthen their resolve and unite them. As a dog whistle, it’s meant to be inconspicuous to those not in the know.
