I had a wild baby snail as a pet for a brief stint, and one of the things I didn’t expect was that at night I could actually hear him munching on the cabbage leaves I left for him. It was a periodic scruunchscruuunchscruunch.
I believe they eat by rubbing a sandpaper-like surface of many teeth on the food, but it still sounded like he was chewing with his cheeks full.
Man, I’m 90% deaf, and the things that people can hear continually blow my mind. Never in a million years would I guess this as something audible, I love it 😂 Now I want to see it on closed captioning 😂
I wouldn’t have guessed it either! I had to move around the room before I could triangulate where it was coming from. And it was surprisingly loud (well, relatively) for how small the little chewer was…
Baahaaha 😂 That’s good to know - I looked up some other sounds that are 20 decibels or lower just so I could laugh about it. Apparently in a soundproofed room you can hear eyelids clicking open or shut. I want to hear this from someone who has before I buy that tho 😂
I have six cats who triangulate for me. Only time it doesn’t work is when there’s a hailstorm 😂
