I realize its the aesthetic of that time, but so many of these are not too far away from a star trek command deck.

I love the oval or hexagonal-shaped front, and the bright, clearly comprehensible indicators :

You can just tell how the priority was on how these systems would actually be used, and then the space was designed around allowing humans to use those systems, rather than the other way around.

Very pretty, but I guess probably similar to control rooms anywhere in the world at that time.
