I know someone whose IQ is measured at 86 and she has a PhD and makes a quarter million dollars a year.
IQ is a spectrum.
At 70, though, I believe you would be special needs.

There are signs.
SAT scores are just as meaningless as IQ tests. Both are more an indication of your test taking skills. Certification programs can be a little better, but if you buy a decent study guide and use your test taking skills you should be able to pass many of these.
I’m pretty sure IQ is something that varies a lot over a lifetime. The last time i had one was while on a 3 month psychiatric rehabilitation stay because i was in a pretty bad shape, with a value of 103. I am pretty sure that if i had repeated that test after all of that therapy and distance to the bullshit of everyday life, that i would’ve scored higher. After my stay i was a lot quicker on the uptake, a lot less stressed by exam situations and left a lot of brain fog behind.
IQ tests are an imperfect snapshot.
IQ is actually one of the most stable metrics we have for intelligence. It does change with brain development but its also a comparative amongst your age group so your IQ remains very stable throughout your life.
It’s not to say you didnt mess up on your test at one point, or that someone who is having a mental episode cant distort it via anxiety or whatever
For real, like, honestly, if you walk up to a kid and slap them and then force them to take an IQ test, they could possibly test as mentally disabled even if they were in the genius range before you slapped them.
Your mental state, your mood, your home life, how much sleep you got that night, your diet, all of those things can affect your performance on the actual test.
I wish someone had told my father this when I was little. He might just have stopped hitting me and calling me stupid if someone other than me pointed it out.
It’s a great metric for how well you take an IQ test. No one should really be using it as a measurement for general intelligence.
Its widely considered as the standard metric for general intelligence.
That’s not to say it is perfect or doesnt have gaps, it doesn’t assess creativity, EQ, rational thinking, wisdom or impacts from socioeconomic.
However what is does measure are things like abstract reasoning, pattern recognition, working memory.
Its one of the strongest single predictors of academic performance, job complexity learning, and overall occupational success, and those things pretty obviously correlated with general intelligence.
4chan, please never change
Iq doesn’t matter really. Everyone has a skill. For example I had a coworker who when hired was in a dark time. Not to give any personal details but he lost his job, his wife left him, she took the kids all in like 3 months. He came in and plainly said I don’t want to think, I don’t want to solve problems just just give me a machine and tell me how to run it and it will be run.
He was the best damn coworker I had ever. He beat my record of work in that machine by about 150% on average, his record was something like 3x my record. Now if the machine gave an error he would come get me and tell me to fix the error. He didn’t care how the machine worked or what was happening, he came in, made product and went home. He was insane at it. He didn’t want to think, he didn’t care. That’s someone else’s job, I just run machine. He probably made more profit for that company then any other 2 people combined.
Everyone has a skill.
I’ve known a few people who don’t.
No, you knew a few people who were trying to have a skill they didn’t have.
Hey, you’ve met me 😁
That was me for a bit after a significant relationship. Did not wish to be alone with my thoughts. Was a model employee
He was amazing. He just wanted to be left alone and allowed to crank out work.
Based on this experience I think we should hire people who are in long term relationships and then have a seperate team whose job is to break that relationship for the increased output. /s that is way too evil for me
Needs more dragons
I actually like this exchange; you know how many people I know who think they’ve got a 160+ IQ because of an online test they took that then tried to sell them something?
At least a dozen, a few of which are even family members. Statistically impossible, but do they care? No, they’re super geniuses. God what I’d pay to see what they respond to their real score, lol
And the test is like “Whats 5+789?”
Also IQ is just nonsense anyway. At the bare minimum intelligence isn’t a high and low line, its one of those charts where you have scales in like 5 directions and it makes a colored blob except instead of 5 directions there are like, 100.
An online IQ test is probably just as meaningful as a sorting hat quiz, or whatever the 2020s equivalent is.
Which is to say, it’s useful as a bullshitting session conversation starter with friends so long as all are aware any results should be taken with a massive grain of salt.
IQ tests don’t measure shit. And for the most part are pretty easy. There are only so many “follow the pattern” drawings the test makers can come up with. And outside field specific nomenclature, English isn’t getting a whole ton of extra words as time goes on. I’ve taken two formal ones at two different times in my life (child for school and then as an adult for an interview with a HFT company). And scored in the top 2-3 percentile. Is my score von Neumann levels of smart? Nah, not even close.
Look at this guy he thinks IQ tests are easy
Send his ass to a psyclilitrist
Hello yes I am psychliltirist I am here to test ur head mush
If you score in the bottom 10 %is more important than the top 10%
For sure. At that level, you’re functionally handicapped and the world is going to be difficult to navigate.
Also above 10%.

Psychilicist: a psychologist that is super chill.
That’s not what they wrote though.
I was thinking a cross between a psychologist and a ventriloquist: they ask you about your mom, and then they answer for you.
… While their hand is up your ass
I gotta get their number
Psychlilatrist: A psychiatrist who’s little
They don’t need a full sized psychiatrist for such a small mind.
I’ve never actually taken a formal IQ test, and I’d have trouble justifying the time and effort.
I know exactly one person who took a formal IQ test, and it was because their parents pushed them into it in middle school.
If I won $50M in the powerball and never had to work again, maaaybe I could justify doing one just for shits and giggles.
I only did a weird one for kids at the age of 9. max IQ points was 120 and I got 119. I asked why its not 120 and they said I was wrong with the end of WW2. I wrote 1949 and it was actually 1945.
Seeing my 9 year old son today, I am surprised how close my understanding about WW2s end was.
That was not an iq test.
Yes but it was bought to me as an IQ test. The reason I named it “weird IQ test”.
All aan iq test measures, is how good you are at making iq texts
But then you’d be tempted to become someone who tells people their IQ
