They probably don’t carry a lot of ammo so they need to get reloaded quite often. In that time they’re immobile and pretty defenseless.

But not that much when you compare it to the theoretical rate of fire.
They can carry up to 30 shells, which is a lot for a precision platform like this.
Not when you can theoretically fire 16 in 1 minute.
But still, they have to be stationary for a long time when being reloaded. It’s the same for everything.
Yes but 30 155mm shells could erase an entire column of tanks, it is a devastating amount of force.

It is worth pointing out that the reload step is also heavily automatable especially in terms of speed, limiting crew exposure and number of artillery shells exposed outside of blast chambers at any one time.
However even before the advent of heavily automated self propelled artillery guns like the PZH2000 or Archer, the concept of the gun raid had been well established in which artillery is brought forward into temporary firing positions closer to the front under an umbrella of friendly forces… and part of that operation is delivering ammuntion pre-emptively and clandestinely to future firing positions… something which is also perfect for automation/the use of UGVs and UAVs.
