The War on History is a War on Democracy
I was reading this recently as part of this open history course by Timothy Snyder called Hitler and Stalin Today. It had some interesting points and leads me to believe that the Soviet memory laws and self censorship of the issues they caused in Ukraine are part of the reason that Ukrainians are now thought of as a different race in Russia today.
