Imagine you are making $$$ from your app or site.

One day you get an email “we’ll remove your app because we found out you didn’t pay us enough protection money. There is no appeal, we are a trillion dollar company, whatcha gonna do?”.

You instantly lose half of your income in the best case, 100% in the worst case. There is no alternative app store for iPhones outside of the EU.

DMA is supposed to fix this, but it’s only for the EU, and look at how Apple tried to spite the EU with their “compliance”.

Developers can release their work as a web app instead of going through Apple’s store. Alternative stores aren’t actually required. The EU does not have a great record of understanding the impacts when it comes to their technology laws. We all have that annoying pop up. Where is the next cable standard going to come from now that everyone is forced to use usb-c? Technology development and market reactions outside the EU

Its the app store that’s the issue. its apple preventing third party distribution on their platforms. no one cares about the store itself its the active and hostile approach apple takes to preventing distribution to their devices that doesnt go through their overly priced shitty store/payment systems. Webapps are not comparable to native applications for all situations.
