Not great, but kinda of inevitable, given the number of choices in that pool. And Debian doesn’t control how the upstream is made. I’m staying on debian, for now. But I’m not happy with this decision.

The use of a generative AI tool does not diminish the contributor’s responsibility for the work they submit. Contributors are expected to understand, review, test, and, where appropriate, modify AI-assisted output before incorporating it into Debian. Blindly accepting or uploading AI-generated material without appropriate human review is inconsistent with Debian’s established development practices
Volunteers for open-source projects do a huge amount of work, and if a tool can help them accomplish their goals rather than burning out, isn’t that a good thing? As long as they’re not submitting AI slop of course.
