All my life I wanted a cool plague mask, so I had to make one. I sat on a pattern for nearly two months before commiting to using almost $100 worth of veg tan leather, and it turned out way too big. I’m working on sewing darts around the face hole to bring it in a bit. Hopefully it looks good when I’m done.

    Looks cool. Leather working is something I want to start getting into after I discovered leatherworking tools at my local library.

    Figure I can replace crumpling leatherette with somethjng that will last longer.

    Any tips for getting started?

      It’s a more expensive hobby in part because of all the tools, so if you can get them for free, that’s awesome.

      I wish I familiarized myself with kinds of leather and the processes for finishing edges before I got into it, so definitely check that out. Then just pick up some leather and try to follow a basic pattern to get the hang of it. Basic sewing skills are useful, too.
