I’m not advocating for this, but I am curious why Iran doesn’t strike locations outside of the region, like America itself. They’re already at war…can anyone explain? Do they not have that sort of range?

American bases in the USA don’t really pose a threat to Iran. The American bases in the region are needed for USA warplanes to take off from.

Unlike what most people seem to believe, the US cannot just strike anywhere in the whole world. They need bases at a maximum of around 800 miles distance of a target. For an F35 to take off and return to base on a full tank.

Else a lot of refueling planes to get their F35’s to the target. It gets exponentially more expensive the longer the US plane needs to travel.

Unless they use literal nukes with intercontinental bilallistic missiles they need bases in the region.

I forgot to mention the US also has missiles like Tomahawks which don’t require refuelling, because they’re one-way and guess why the US is now running low on missiles

i know the us imperialist doctrine poisons how we view military operations, but not always a flashy, big, or “consequential” attack makes sense. first of all it comes down to long range missiles not being able to target the mainland, but also because keeping the war local helps to both eliminate the burger reich presence in the region by destroying military bases and to deplete their arsenal which is already at very low capacity after years of protracted proxy wars in ukraine and palestine. this also poses another factor in favour of iran, since the us needs to move assets from neighbouring countries/colonies to the affected areas. which is a really big issue in terms of resupply logistics.

Yes they don’t have anywhere near that range. But also, an attack on the mainland (like a terrorist attack) would likely help Trump’s allies in the midterm elections, which it seems like Iran is waiting out because there should be a huge political swing, if they’re not already too compromised.

Ah, I see. Admittedly I don’t know much about military operations. I guess my simplistic view was that since they’re already at war, and Trump is already threatening to wipe Iran off the map, it would be more directly advantageous to Iran’s goals to hit America closer to home. Your explanation makes a lot of sense though, thanks!

Yeah I don’t know much about it either, just saw an article about their range capabilities recently. I don’t think they’re capable of hitting much outside of the Middle East.

Last time someone attacked the US directly they invaded a country that had nothing to do with it.

There was that time they attacked their own ship and then invaded a country that had nothing to do with it
