I wish the straight of Hormuz would choke me off
TLDR:
The country’s coal-chemical industry - the world’s largest - can substitute roughly 140 million metric tons of imported oil equivalent per year, turning coal into aviation fuel, asphalt, plastics and synthetic fibers
I was hoping the renewable boom would play a bigger role but I guess not. The planet will suffer so China won’t. Though the ultimate blame still lies with the US.
coal mines form a central part in chinas transition to green energy, sadly, unlike in fairy tales, you cannot do instantaneous magical transitions without middle stages. no country on earth should/will stop production because that means people will stop having a job that feeds them.
will stop having a job that feeds them.
Good socialist values on display right here comrade.

But how much of this coal is being used to produce solar panels, or even food, compared to how much is being used to power industries that are effectively worthless to human society.
Fast fashion, plastic shit, vapes. The things you force people to produce because the idea of feeding them without them having to sweat is offensive.
Other countries are choosing to consume less during this crisis (out of necessity, I’m not saying altruism) while China is choosing to consume more because it can simply burn more coal.
When the rains stop coming and crops wither in the heat, climate change isn’t going to care whether it was fair that some countries got to burn more coal than others.
What no theory does to a mfer

Right, communism = no food.
Those other countries have all had their own industrial age where they polluted infinitely more than China is currently doing. And those countries refused to adopt cheap solar and other renewable energy and caused the climate crisis because they were exploiting fossil fuels as their ploy to keep the world dependent on them.
Hell who’s responsible for most of the green energy those countries are adopting nowadays?

I suspect that almost every country on earth would do the same to keep the wheels of their society turning. Trump is 100% accountable. We had been working collectively to reduce CO2. Not perfect but short of invading and dictating we can only influence
No doubt they would. But it’s in poor taste to brag about it.
It’s even sadder to defend a system that requires it as an inevitability.
What alternative do you suggest?
China just burns more coal, simple as.
more like simplistic as
