One of the biggest things holding me back from leaving Reddit, despite the fact I hate the way they are handling, well, everything, is the sense of community with people sharing similar experiences as me, as well as sharing my hobbies. It’s nice to be able to look at things other people made in a hobby you’re interested in, but even moreso it’s nice to be able to relate your struggles with others sharing your struggles. To leave reddit would mean leaving behind r/ADHD and r/ADHDmemes which allow us to vent and make light of our daily struggles. It’s nice that there is another community here I can turn to instead. I hope this platform continues to grow and improve, so I don’t ever have to look back on the pile rubble that reddit is quickly becoming.

Same here. I went through a breakup recently and I’ve been trying my hardest to not go paddling back to reddit to distract myself from all the feelings… It sucks to not have a place to vent and lean on. I hope the communities keep growing. It’s really good vibes here so far, I’m looking forward to more posts as people join.

kbin is really nice, just like Mastodon. Reddit is so damn angry all the time, just like twitter.

It does suck losing out on all the niche communities I was a part of, but I’m sure that in time they’ll start to come back together in some form or another.

Right there with you. Only started following the subreddits a few months ago and it was invaluable before I decided to leave reddit fully. Glad to see that there is already a community building up here, seems like it’ll be a really nice platform.

No, I don’t think this one is run by the same people from Reddit. Just the same idea. But to be fair, all you need for the community is a group of people with similar experiences/struggles and a place to discuss it. There wasn’t anything special about the mods on reddit

I made an effort every year or so to cull any subreddits with a lot of negativity. All the supportive communities that were important to me also have doppelganger communities here on Lemmy that i’m now subscribed to. I like the positivity on this platform better anyway so getting rid of reddit will just make my life better.

I hope it continues to be at least this good, I really hope it becomes more diversified and keeps communities of hate and trolls from participating.
