I had bought the premium version 8 years ago for just like ~$3-5. that was such a great deal. i loved the ui and how smooth it worked. they never integrated all those new awards. it was just nice and clean.

RIP RIF. it’s the end of an era.

The only way I’ve enjoyed Reddit in Android, for almost 10 years. Rip RIF.

Relay dev said the same thing. It’s like even if I wanted to use Reddit on mobile, I can’t because the main app is literally unusable.

We’ll probably see a lot of traffic to Lemmy by then. Hope the servers are ready to handle an influx.

That’s exactly why I moved to lemmy

I really really hate to see Apollo go, but at the same time, I hope other Reddit app devs follow suit. Absolute trash way that Reddit is treating not only their devs, but users too.

Saw this notification yesterday when I opened the App. I guess I’m deleting my Reddit account that day. It really is a shame—it was such a good app, and the developer seems like such a chill person.

Long time Reddit user; new Lemmy user. 14 years to be precise. I’m already loving how good the community is and how positive the content is without all them bots. I’ll do my best to contribute!

RIP. I really enjoyed using it while I actively used my iPhone. I guess RedReader will end up the same.

RedReader user here. hoping that they switch over to lemmy, but thats a fair bit if dev time (would be happy to donate if thats the path they take). in any event, the fediverse is my new home and I am more than good with what I have seen so far.

RedReader dev says that they were allowed to operate free because of the accessibity they provide.

yes, it looks like RedReader gets a stay of execution for now - thats good for the short term. the RR dev has indicated that the medium term path forward is to include Lemmy as an endpoint for RR. that is going to really interesting.

On android I am using redreader too and liked the minimalistic approach very much.

exactly. it a beautifully simple and perfectly functional app. pretty much the only thing that made Reddit tolerable.

This was the line for me. Apollo had great tools and filters which made Reddit usable. Even bearable. I can’t be bothered to wade through the swamp without it.

I literally just bought an iPhone with a large part of that decision being the ability to use Apollo. I’m absolutely devastated. That app is a hardware seller. It’s the iOS equivalent of a Zelda title on a Nintendo console.

My first though was “really? No way” and then I thought about how much I use and love Apollo. Yeah, I get it now.
