I’m more concerned why you are so desperate to know. It’s completely irrelevant, humans have the gift (and curse) of memory, it could have been yesterday or 20 years ago, it’s just a common experience people joke about
I only ask because it’s obviously something fresh in your mind. It’s a weird thing to bring up. I couldn’t even tell you when my parents gave me a lecture because I don’t remember any it’s been so long.
But your being defense about it, so I’ll infer from that, and leave it alone.
No, you’re reading between lines something that isn’t there, do I need to bring up memes that I have seen to prove to you that I’m not insane by making a joke like that?
To me, that was such an uncalled for question that I got slightly creeped out, that’s why I got defensive, like even if I were a kid, maybe I am by your point of view anyway, why would someone want to know after reading that? Did you need context to find it funny or something?
I’m disappointed this conversation went this way. I’m way over on the “lecturing my kids” side of life. A discussion of what this meme means to those “being lectured” could provide insight to others.
I’m already going to check my lecture-meter to make sure I’m not boring my kids to death.
Anyway I think there’s a balance to strike there, if you feel like what you need to say is very important it’s probably good to just say it, but if it goes off on a tangent that maybe had nothing to do with what your kid was talking with you about maybe ask them first if they want to listen in to what you would like to say, if not, you can let them off. There’s always time to learn, you don’t have to nag them every single chance you get imo
Yeah, I check in often, and the lines of communication are open. Helps to have no lying (in general), but especailly to my kids (which unfortunately needs to be said because so many people feel like it is ok).

Dude its the internet. If you don’t like a question just don’t answer it.
Weirdly I feel like you turned his question in to a lecture here haha
Fair enough

I vote my kids to death accidentally. But oh well. I’m just trying to impart useful knowledge!
I got too worked up over nothing tbh.

You’re right, I was being a dick. And it was uncalled for. I apologize.
It’s all good, I did get too up in arms as well, so yeah, I’ll share the fault
Nah you’re good. I shouldn’t have been a dick.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Thanks, you too!
