You don’t have to be #1 to be successful. You eventually reach a point where most people interested in your product will have it. It’s okay for there to be competitors in the market, especially ones that specialize in a different type of product offering.

Microsoft has the PC, Xbox, and the Game Pass for games as a service. People love it. It makes them money. They just need to keep the high quality games coming. Xbox game studios should be pumping out unique experiences.

Sony has their own extremely talented games studios that make their unique offerings for the PS5. People love that too. They also have some Japanese loyalty. That’s fine.

Xbox doesn’t need to knock Sony out of the market to succeed. They already are succeeding. They need to take an example from Nintendo. Nintendo does not attempt to own all the console market as #1. They simply put out high quality games for their system and leave it at that.

Also, $70 billion for mostly mobile development? Is Diablo Immortal really that successful?

      Microsoft has the PC

They don’t get money for every pc game sold. And the steam deck has showed us they don’t necessarily get money for each pc sold.

Most people don’t buy games through the Microsoft app store.
