Just got back from seeing the new Wes Anderson movie. It sure was a Wes Anderson movie… also, Rice by the end of the week, please, my heart can’t take much more of this.
Was the movie good? I’ve been eyeing it up but unsure if I actually want to see it or not.
I thought it was solid - I’d say 7/10. For reference, I really enjoyed Grand Budapest and did not love the French Dispatch. Anderson takes his framing devices to another level in this movie, so if that annoys you, that might affect your enjoyment.
It’s a star-studded cast but that almost makes it worse for me - so many people are in it that didn’t necessarily need to be. I can’t complain too much, though, I assume it’s indicative of Anderson’s success when so many high-profile actors/actresses want to be involved in his pictures.
I loved Grand Budapest but skipped French a dispatch because I had heard similar experiences about it.
The star-studded cast is actually one of the reasons I’m kinda “meh” on seeing it. It feels gimmicky and I worry there isn’t much story there.
Outside of the “what… are they doing here?” reaction for a few of the characters when you first see who’s playing them, I wouldn’t say it detracts too hard from the story. It’s a story by an artist, about his art, and thus it’s a little navel gazey, but I thought it still made for a good narrative.
ah, gotcha. Thanks for letting me pick your brain on what you thought of the movie!
No problem at all - I can’t do any work because my eyes are dilated and I can’t read anything :D Hope you enjoy if you do end up seeing it!
Bayern bidding for Kane according to Ornstein. Interesting!
Apparently it was less than €70m bid, no way Levy sells him for that
Imagine Kane cheaper than Rice lol
The Spuds are really going to die on that grave huh?
They’re going to “rebuild” the team around Kane again.
With Maddison?!
I don’t know haha. They’re always making the wrong type of moves.
