Yeah I picked that up on avherald the other day. Seems that it has been found to be a suicide.
strange way to commit suicide… And not necessary the most effective. They are a lot of story of flight deck men on aircraft carrier being ingested by fighter jet engine and survived
I´n no expert on suicide, so what do I know? However, over at avherald, the people who actually work in that very environment already suspected that it must have been intentional based on the procedures in place that would normally prevent this sort of thing from happening accidentally. And now, the news outlets say that “a medical examination has ruled it a suicide”.
How would a medical examination determine that? I can’t imagine there’s much left to examine…
I mean, it´s not like the guy gut sucked right through and there´s only minced meat on the other side. The way I read it, he must have “hit the fan” with this head and then probably fell down dead. At this stage of parking the plane, it uses lmost no thrust, most likely idle.
I’ve seen this posted in a few places and the use of the term “ingested” here continues to strike me as an interesting choice of wording.
