    If this is true, it’ll sell like gangbusters. The vast majority of students buying what’s nearly become a right of passage at this point in what is an Apple laptop will certainly flock to this; since even the MBA is overkill for most use cases.

    Where it gets interesting is how this will stack up next to the iPad, in particular the iPad Pro. With this, you’d get an attached screen and keyboard; and an OS that’s actually worth its own existence. Unless you absolutely needed a touch screen for some reason, I could see this badly cannibalizing iPad sales.

      Depending on what Apple’s goals are with the education market, I’ve sometimes wondered if Apple should rename/rebrand iPadOS to something more generic.

      Take that OS and install it on lesser hardware (AppleTV box, 12” touch screen notebooks) and sell it to schools. K-8 students don’t need a full OS like MacOS and it’s easier to lock down iPadOS/iOS while still providing the full suite of iPad apps.
