After at least 10 iPhones & tons of configuration changes, I’m debating wiping my new 15 Pro & starting from scratch. I’d take screen shots of all my apps & install them one by one. My passwords would still be in keychain, so I won’t be really staring from nothing.

I’m just wokdering if I’m missing out on certain features because of a random setting decision I made with my iPhone Xs that has carried forward multiple times.

Anyone truly start fresh with a new phone? Or am I just creating unnecessary work for myself?

Yes - I had to the other week when I bought my 15 pro

My 14 plus had a bug in the messaging data - no one could figure out why my messages were having such issues

Verizon sent me a new phone - and I set it up from back up like normal- and within a day - I was having the same exact issues again - Apple wiped both phones , Verizon wiped the network settings / gave me new eSIM multiple times , and Still NOTHING FIXED IT

When I was shopping at Apple for a 15 pro case (my 15 pro was getting delivered next morning) - an Apple employee asked to help me and we just started talking and he knew right away what my issue was

Reason being even the new phone having the same issue was it was a bug and when I would transfer the backup to the new phone , the bug would follow

So he recommended me to start as new on 15 pro - so I set it up as new - logged into my iCloud after - and all my stuff came back

Had to re download every app I wanted again , but it was a breeze as iCloud remember all the info / logins etc - so it took only a few mins

So now I had all my stuff back , except messages which I didn’t care (especially being there was a bug in the message data) and my problem has been solved- no issues with the texting now - only thing that worked
