How much am I missing by still using XR? It’s been paid off for a couple years and unlocked with AT&T now, but starting to have issues where apps/sites load slower and outright freeze sometimes. I don’t really want to have another monthly installment, but don’t want to shell out $1000 up front either. Is there much change jumping to the 14 or 15, or should I hang on until this XR completely dies another 2+ years maybe? Also worth noting the trade value has gone lower and lower every year, and another 2 years I probably won’t get anything for the XR.

My partner XR battery needed replacement. It will cost like 80 dollar to replace it. But we decided to trade it and get 150 out of it. Used it for a iPhone 15 plus. The camera and battery is worth the money. We plan to use it for another 5 year or so.

I just upgraded from the 12 mini. I was really reluctant to upgrade because I love that form factor. And I strongly considered just upgrading the battery I agree the year two year updates are pretty nominal. But there were really significant improvements even from the 12. I was surprised I noticed the speed difference and the screen is so clear that things almost look like they are in 3-D Of course camera and battery life are much better as well.

battery health? battery deterioration could impact performance quite a bit. a battery change is pretty inexpensive compared to a new phone.

Went from XR to 14PM and honestly didn’t notice a huge difference. Dynamic island thing, screen, variable refresh rate, and anything else that initially sold me on this phone became irrelevant after first two weeks. I use my phone 5-7 hours a day.

    Camera is much better though.

Just get a new battery if you have sudden freezes. My 7Plus was like new after a new battery (first lasted 5 years).

Replace your Battery, you will feel it like a new phone. Yeah the difference is enormous it affects a lot the speed even the behavior of the RAM. With 80 sometimes even 85 or lower battery health the phone feels slow , always harm or hot, a lot of refreshing when jumping between apps. After battery replacement the phone feels fast , no heat or less and the refreshing is less frequent

Way way way better camera. Way way way better screen. Way way way better battery life. Other than basically everything that makes a phone great, you’re not missing out.

still on xr, i will stay on it until it dies, in fact it already does everything i need and an upgrade,at least for me, isn’t worth. I care mainly about battery life and i’m worried that an upgrade will not be convinient compared to what i have to spend.so in your case it all depens on your needs, but after all jumping to a 14 or 15 series will only improve the user experience in general and nothing more. your xr can still do everything!

Yep… this rabid consumerism of buying a new phone every year whether you need one or not is why credit card debt is at an all time high… there hasn’t been a major change worth dropping another grand on these devices since iPhone X.
