I have been an Android users for as long as I can remember. The idea of an iPhone with USB C and a nice Titanium build was too hard to resist. I went for a 15 Pro, now I am questioning whether I made a mistake. For reference I switched from a S23 Ultra, mainly because it’s just way too big.
I love this iPhone but for how much it costs it has some massive inconveniences. These include the massive pain of file transfers to and from PC, poor notification management and no universal back button like there is on Android. Everything thing else I like, the small form factor is so nice in the hand, Face ID is amazing, all apps just work well and video recording quality is god tier.
I guess this is directed mainly to people who switched from Android, do you get used to these inconveniences or not? I am still within my 14 day return period and am torn between returning the phone or just sticking with it?
I’d return it., and go back to android. been an iphone user for nearly 10yrs, I will probably switch over to android when my current Iphone 12 dies. I just hate how everything is so restricted and overpriced …and how behind they are when it comes to features that other phones have had for years! Seriously how many times can you sell a phone with a “nice camera”? I absolutely refuse to buy a phone just based on one feature-camera or otherwise!!
I’ve been android since android came out and for the last decade or so the only reason I ever upgrade is for better cameras. Android hasn’t changed much in a long time. Anyways, I’m trying iphone in a couple days for the first time. Hopefully it goes better for me than op.
-
Universal back: swipe the bottom white bar to the right to go back to the app you just came from.
-
File transfer: under your iPhone’s options in iTunes, there will be an app options screen. Here you can drag and drop files from your computer. Not perfect, but it’s an option.

I had an S22 Ultra before coming back to iPhone. Before the 22 ultra I had the Galaxy S10 Plus. I loved that phone. It takes a bit, but now I’m used to it and I love it. I have the 15 Pro Max for reference.
You’ll get used to it, but getting used to it might be something you hate.
As a fellow iPhone only user, it’s ridiculously frustrating getting anything other than photos off the iPhone, when with super cool usb c.
Swiping from the left edge usually works as a universal back gesture.
Swipe gestures are superior
This exact scenario gets asked like hourly in this sub. Can we get an FAQ? 😂
It’s a different phone, and if you’re not committed to changing how you do things, it’s not going to be fun. But that’s not a one way street. You have to change how you do things no matter what. I’ve switched between android and iOS multiple times though I don’t plan on switching back to android.
Especially now I don’t get the complaints of moving files because either everything is cloud based or you can just plug an external drive in and easily move files yeah?
This is all preference. If you don’t like something don’t use it. For me notifications in iOS are fantastic because I want to filter out noise and with android you have persistent icons in the notification tray making it look anxiety inducing and ugly AF. I get the notifications I want to ACTION when I want. People need to go read a book instead of worrying about phone notifications from purely leisure apps imho.
Use it up until the end of the return window. You don’t like it enough? Return it and get a more compact android phone
You didn’t. iP15Pro is a wonderful phone.
Also, it’s just a start. The best thing about Apple is the ecosystem and how the devices interact with each other. Once you start adding things like iPad, Apple Watch, Macbook etc., that’s when you really start to see the magic happen.
Set up iCloud Drive on the iPhone and your PC. It can be buggy but it’s better than nothing. It’s Apple’s files manager that syncs to the cloud. You can also swipe left/right on the home bar thing to quickly switch recently used apps. The other issues don’t seem to be worth going back to Android over.
I would recommend giving it time to breathe up until you’re at the end of your return window. My wife had similar misgivings with her iPhone Xꜱ Max when she switched over from Android. And now her 15 Pro Max is arriving Tuesday.
Otherwise, yes. Apple has a different approach to notifications management. And without getting into a huge thing, native iOS apps and a good many others do support edge swiping as a back gesture within an app. The upper left corner will also generally have a ”previous app” shortcut if you switch directly to a new app without going to the Home Screen first. You can also drag the Home Bar at the bottom left or right to switch between your two or three most recently opened apps.
As for file transfer, you’d have to be more specific. But you can find more robust third-party sync and file management systems or use iCloud Files as an intermediary. iTunes and Finder integration is admittedly pretty basic.
Overall, let it breathe. If you decide you don’t like iPhone/iOS, then you don’t. Nothing wrong with it.
