Hi everyone! I am a XS user looking to upgrade to a 15 or a 15 Pro. What makes me hesitate is the 3x zoom: Is it game changer? Will I use it often?

So I want to know what is your experience with this zoom. Do you like it? Do you use it more than the 2x zoom?

In the past 2 years I’ve used it all of 4 times to take pics of wildlife while hiking or biking. But I have found I can get the same by just taking a 48mp pic from main lens and just crop it later. I subscribe to the opinion the main lens’s is the best lens.

I don’t do zoom photos but portrait shots look a lot better with it. I compared the 3x on my friend’s 14 pro with my 13 and it looks really different and way better. (Just talking about the angles and lens distortion and not detail or colour)

Your current phone is five full generations behind the 15, and one feature of one camera is making you hesitate? What tomfoolery is this decision-making process?

I don’t use my iPhone for taking pictures except when we got rear ended. If it is a known time that is worth taking pictures, I will take and use my midrange digital camera. 3x is not much when my optical lens is 50x. The low illumination is better with a dedicated camera, imo.
