Hello everyone. I just bought a new Iphone 2022. Only reason was that Apple discontinued OS support on the SE 2016. The other reason was that it was getting tougher to get a new battery.
I loved the size. I loved that I could stick in in my pocket. On the 2022 I can barely get it into my pocket. I have an Otto Defender on it so maybe that’s making it bulky. Any other options to protect it?

I’m 52 years old so I grew up the first 30 years of my life without a cell phone. I’m really not addicted to them. Too bad this might be the last small phone. Not sure what I’ll do in the future if I cannot just put it in my pocket.
Anyways, just like to hear your generally thoughts on if you’re happy with your SE 2022.

I’m assuming the battery life is going to be better. The phone looks a little faster.

Any general thoughts?

I had the Defender on mine and dust built up underneath the screen protector and scratched my display. The Commuter with a tempered glass is a superior option and has port covers as well.

I’m still using my SE1, though my main phone is an SE2. The SE1 is still usable, in my opinion, and an Apple-replaced battery is still available for £65. There are also third-party batteries, some of which are trustworthy.

I intend to buy an SE3 soon but there’s no doubt that the original SE is unbeatable for pocketability and ease of one-handed use, compared to the later SE versions.

I think the otterbox symmetry is a good one for that phone, the plastic on the back makes it easy to slide in and out of the pocket, I’ve dropped mine, sat on it etc brand new still

You should know that Apple has not discontinued OS support on the iPhone SE 2016 yet. It can’t run iOS 16 or newer, but it’s still getting updates for apps and security on iOS 15 today.

But if you just want a newer iPhone without gimmicks and you’re okay with no headphone jack, the new SE is great.

I use an iPhone leather case that I had for my iPhone 7 and that works fine and save my 7 more times than I care to mention.

The only thing I would recommend is to switch off all the Siri options including the iCloud and learn from this app bits for all installed apps that helped battery life for me.

I’m still mulling whether to update it to ios 17.1 or stay on the stock 16.6.

Im loving it so far, the phone is small and compact, smallest you can buy today. Your case is definitely making it bulky. Turn up the font size to the max, it’s in settingsdisplayfont size. Expect good battery life compared to the 2016 se as well as better camera and performance. I personally have the 2020 version and I came from a 6.7 inch display. Took me a week to adjust to the keyboard. No more youtube on the phone, not that I watched it much anyway. Enjoy it and good luck

Welp, for the same reason that you upgraded I bought a Doogee Smini today.

Yes it’s an Android. I’ve been missing access to file system and OTG functionality since I got an iphone se in 2017.

for anybody else considering upgrading but staying compact, consider this little phone
