As the title says, I’m noticing apps like Twitter are giving me ads based on information that only happened in the Messages app. I had a completely random discussion with a contact about caulking and then about an hour later I got an ad for caulk on Twitter. There’s no way that’s coincidence, it’s such a specific topic. Is there anyway to shield the contents of my messages app from being shared with advertisers?
Third party apps don’t have access to the Messages app data
there’s no facility for an app in IOS to read messages so there’s nothing to stop.
There is nothing you can do sadly. If I say something crazy like “Quirkatron Oddity” you will get mental health advertisements.
It is on all phones, computers, and even Alexa type devices
No it’s not.
It’s so frustrating because they go through the effort of creating the Do Not Track feature and I am so diligent about selecting it for every app but apparently even Apple’s own messages app is not safe. My messages should be off limits by default.
Unfortunately most every network connected device you own does the same thing.
Apps aren’t reading your messages. What you think is a random discussion isn’t. People are way more predictable and patterned than they realize.
There’s no way for an app to read your messages, it’s not happening.
