I got an iPhone 14+ for $58 and free installation. They gave me a $500 gift card for in store use for buying it. What was the catch? The verizon contract is $65 a month, ten dollars cheaper if I set it on auto renewal. My current plan with StraightTalk was at $50 on my old phone so it’s not much of a difference.

What was the catch?

Straight talk is month to month. Verizon owns you for three years and you will comply with their rules.

Actually there isn’t a catch. Verizon corporate rep here…The promotion is getting a new line of service with a free device. Free being that if the phone is $23.05 a month, you will see where you are charged $23.05 a month and the credited $23.05 a month for 36 months.
If there is a “catch” I would say the phone being free is contingent on you staying with Verizon for 36 months to be credited for the device payment. You paid sales tax upfront which is typically all that’s required. Welcome to Verizon!

Sounds like the Walmart Black Friday event deal. There is no catch. The wireless rep activates the phone on your account, you pay the sales tax, and your monthly bill will have your service payment and device payment due. Enjoy your $500 Walmart gift card.
