Since the SE’s have followed a two year upgrade cycle so far, would it be safe to say that the 3rd generation will come out next year (2024)?
Should I get the 2nd gen now or wait for 3rd gen? The 2.5 hours charging time is a bit off putting.
I would guess there would be an update in 2024, but I doubt it would be much more than a slightly newer chip. You’re probably fine buying the SE 2nd generation.
If you are okay with foregoing the idea of sleep tracking with the watch, you can charge overnight. The SE is probably the best value smartwatch by Apple or any other company. If you do want Fitbit in a less than $350 ish device, I’d say fitbits do an amazing job with that (better than Apple and Garmin) while doing some other things well too, though they aren’t really smart watches (more like fitness trackers).
Yeah. I do wanna do sleep tracking. I was thinking of getting a series 7 but the SE 2nd gen has a newer chip. So it would last longer software wise. Or that doesn’t matter?
The S7 model has the same chipset all derived from the same design as the S6 and S8. The chipset in the SE 2020 version is in the same class. There is no advantage of one over another in that series. The differences between an SE and S series are based on features. All models based on the same chipset design will be supported as long as that design qualifies. So if/when a new OS update comes along that no longer supports the S6, S7, S8, and SE 2020, they all will likely lose it together. Some features may not carry over dependent on new sensors or other internal parts, just like happened with S4 and 5 when OS 9 and 10 were released, but otherwise all remain current.
It’s more likely your SE or S7 will die for other reasons, or have been upgraded by you, than running out of OS upgrades.
What do you like about the fitbit?
I like both the Apple Watch and Fitbit. The things I like about the Fitbit are
-
the battery life (about a week with the Charge 6, or 10 days with the Inspire 3),
-
the sleep tracking (fully automatic sleep tracking without having to sleep within scheduled sleep hours or a sleep mode enabled like with Apple and Garmin),
-
and the simplicity of having all my data and Fitbit info in one app (with Apple, I have 4 apps for it: Apple health, fitness app, the Watch app, and a third party app AutoSleep.
-
Why don’t you get a refurb S7? You get your fast charge, always on display and a hot of other feastures.
The best deal could find here in Canada is for the 41mm version. Will that be too small?
Depends on the person. I’d spend more for the larger size.
Hmmm gotchu. I’m to go as cheap as possible.
So there is a open box s7 41mm for CAD 330 vs brand new SE 2 44mm For CAD329.
