Nothing comes up when I search for any of my fediverse/activity pub accountswin the new Threads app from Meta. Go figure.

Interesting that they mention their users being able to leave Threads and take their audiences with them which sounds like they want to support people being able to move to Mastodon, something many were worried they wouldn’t do

Personally I’ll believe meta’s lip service when we see it.

I admittedly have very low expectations for them to be honest

I expect they will deprioritize outside content so that anyone that wants to reach a wide audience has to migrate to threads. Since other instances will likely treat threads content as any other, this will mean you can reach everyone from threads but only outside instances if you don’t use threads. They will suck up users from the fediverse this way and then defederate.

This is why I would not federate with threads unless there was a legally binding commitment to treat the content same regardless of server of origin.

But, you’re @Kurt@Lemmy.one and it works fine. It depends how you’re searching. If your instance on Mastodon doesn’t know anyone on Lemmy.one then you will need to put in the full path to find an account. But considering my Mastodon instance knows about Lemmy.one I can see your account.

Oh yes, my Mastodon accounts are able to follow and interact with my Lemmy account. I was referring to Meta’s claims that Threads would federate. Apparently, it’s not working yet.
