Post your shave of the day for Monday!
First Lemmy SOTD!:
2023.06.12 SOTN:
- Pre-Shave: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser
- Brush: AKA Brushworks w/ APShaveCo 26mm G5C
- Razor: Henson AL13 (+)
- Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp (2)
- Lather: Stirling Glacial Satsuma
- Post shave: Stirling Mentholated Unscented Witch Hazel and Aloe, Stirling Glacial Satsuma Aftershave Splash, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry
First lemmy shave! Woot! The shave was really nice. Glacial Satsuma is a fantastic soap. Just a fantastic warm citrus smell and the great Stirling quality. The perma-sharps do a fantastic job in the Henson. I think I’m going to buy an aggressive AL13 during the next Maggard sale to see the difference.
- Prep: Hot water splash with face wash
- Razor: King C Gillette
- Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum
- Lather: Catie’s Bubbles ‘95 Liquid Labels
- Brush: Omega 10066
- Splash: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
- Balm: Afta After Shave Skin Conditioner Great BBS shave. No irritation with a few nicks on my neck, chin and upper lip. Bloody shave which is my fault, but the Prime blade was medium sharp and very smooth. It did so well for me that I’ll gladly use it again. Overall, great shave to start off this week. The next blade to try out is a blade that came with a razor I bought months ago. Sorry if this is a late comment. I forgot to join the Lemmy, but here I am now, happy to see my homies here.

Are you our “fuck theme Thursday, aka proraso train” numbers or a different numerically named person?
No mention of sandalwood?
Interesting to see how you sum up numbers. Have you got a one liner for each of us?
Have you got a one liner for each of us?
No, but in my defense, most people have names I can remember. If presented with multiple strings of numbers in hard-pressed to recognise “our” numbers, but I’ll remember enndeegee😅

- Brush: Semogue 2000
- Razor: Schick Type L1
- Blade: Personna SS PTFE
- Lather: Chicago Grooming - Way-Oh
- Post Shave: Lucky Tiger
- Post Shave: Zingari Man - unscented balm
- Post Shave: CeraVe Daily Moisturizer
I’m not committing to killing a tub anytime soon, but I am going to try to kill some samples. I got this huge sample several years ago at the Maggard Meet. Although I have used it several time there is still a significant amount left. Maybe I’ll kill it by the end of summer.
June 12, 2023
- Brush: Omega 40033 24mm
- Razor: Gillette Superspeed
- Blade: Feather (DE) (1)
- Lather: Chiseled Face – Gearhead
- Post Shave: House of Mammoth – Shire 2
- Fragrance: House of Mammoth – Shire 2
Back from my trip. Had to mow down growth since Friday night so a feather it was. I’d prefer to have used a different soap but was in a rush. HoM splashes are the only methanolated ones I have so it was an easy choice since I wanted cooling after being outside. Good shave, got some splash burn but also the coolant gives me that sensation. Let’s get blackout week started.
- Lather: Proraso White Soap
- Brush: AP Shave Co G5C 24mm
- Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable
- Blade: ASCO Platinum (1)
A very comfortable shave. The ASCO blade was very smooth and sharp enough. It reminded me a bit of the Gillette Silver Blue. I will see if it changes with more shaves but the first shave was good.

- Razor: 1956 Gillette Red Tip Super-Speed
- Blade: Shaving Revolution Platinum Series (8)
- Post: Nivea Men Maximum Hydration Moisturizing Post Shave Balm
- Post: Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve Cologne
The brush and soap samples were a 20th anniversary gift from my school district. I’m liking the brush more, although it’s pretty stiff. I’m not so sure about the soap’s fragrance, but it lathers really well. Have a great day, everybody.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
I did the right side of my face with a Rolls Razor that is owned by @Tetriside as an edge test. When I transitioned to the Fili 12, I was surprised by how rough it felt by comparison. For me, the edge on that Rolls was just effortless.
You can’t go wrong with Shire 2 (IMHO), and the Shire brush is ultra luxurious as is the Shire Lancaster towel (though I actually prefer the larger, equally soft and absorbent, ““plush”” car detailing towels available online).

You can’t go wrong with Shire 2 (IMHO)
I really wanted to like Shire 2, but it is just too tobacco-y for me. I grabbed a sample of both the EdP and the soap and only used them once. C’est la vie.
I understand completely. Sometimes there are elements of a scent you just don’t like, and then there are times we come around to liking scents we did not enjoy at first. I had the latter experience with Wholly Kaw Entropy Man. I did not like it at all at first, but absolutely love it now.

June 12, 2023 - Mammoth - Monday
- Brush: Zenith 31mm Moar Boar
- Razor: Karve CB C Solid Bar
- Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless Green (7)
- Lather: House of Mammoth - Alive
- Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Alive
The kill of Alive is almost there. Just a small bit left, and not enough to load the big pig. Later this week, I’ll finish it off with a synthetic. Probably not enough soap left to load any of badger brushes. Decent shave, but could have done better on my right cheek. Not buffing or touching up for a while, so needed a bit better on the atg pass than I got. Oh well, gotta go finish making dinner. Made the pork shoulder roast I had intended to make yesterday. It was at 131F when I came up to shave, target is 185F to have it sliced vs. pulled. It’s been raining today, so I didn’t put it on the smoker. I don’t like cooking in the rain.
June 12, 2023
- Preshave: Proraso Green Preshave
- Brush: Yaqi 24mm Synthetic
- Razor: Feather Artist Club SS Kamisori
- Blade: Feather Pro Guard (3)
- Lather: Abbate y La Mantia Marduk
- Post Shave: Mennen Le Grand Large
- Post Shave: Nivea After Shave Balm
This was a refreshing shave, with Menthol in the preshape, and I very much appreciate the aftershave on hot days like these.
Have a good night!
How would you describe Marduk?
It is the softest soap I have, much softer than croaps like cella. Scentwise it reminds me of some ice cream. I find it rather fits with summer.
Overall, I would say that it’s too expensive for what it is.
June 12, 2023
- Brush: AP Shave Co. 26mm G5C
- Razor: Feather Artist Club SS Folding
- Blade: Kai Protouch MG (2)
- Lather: Barrister and Mann – Mûir(e) Wood
- Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Sea Ice Lime
Found this sample of Mûir(e) Wood while organizing my collection yesterday. I forgot they shipped them loose in paper, so definitely killing this next.
June 12, 2023 – Caught in the Rain
- Brush: DS Cosmetic Jade Tuxedo 24mm
- Razor: Headblade ATX
- Blade: Personna Twin Pivot (12)
- Lather: Shannon’s Soaps – Piña Colada
- Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. – Unscented
I will always remember getting caught in a sudden downpour while working a few years ago. If you know anything about working with children with Down Syndrome, you know how stubborn they can sometimes be. I had to help a kiddo who decided to have a shutdown while riding bikes and just as the skies began a steady shower. I got to him, we traversed the quarter mile back to the bike shed where my coworker was waiting as the shower turned into a downpour, put everything away and sought a more arrid location. At the end of the day, I couldn’t help but retort, “Now that we’ve been caught in the rain, I must ask if you like Piña Coladas.” I will always think about that moment.
- Lather: House of Mammoth - 福 (Fú Dào) Soap
- Brush: Zenith - MOAR BOAR
- Razor: Gillette - Slim Adjustable (9)
- Blade: Gillette - Silver Blue (1)

- Balm: Stirling Soap Co. - Unscented
- Splash: House of Mammoth - 福 (Fú Dào)
First of all, big thanks to @djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social for posting the SOTD thread today. The bot is having trouble and as a non-coder I’m reliant on GPT-4 to actually make it go for me. Fortunately, I think I see the problem and hopefully it will work tonight. If not, DJ will post the thread again.
I was very pleased with this shave. As I mentioned in previous posts, since I have no thrill left I’ve decided to start using DEs again just make things interesting. I’ve tried the SuperSpeed (waaaaaaaaaay to mild) and the Tech (too mild but not in a bad way). Decided to do the Slim for the next several shaves and I got to say that with the slim on 9 it dealt with several days of growth like it wasn’t there. Ended up with a really nice feeling shave with no irritation.
This is my first SOTD on Lemmy, and I’m happy I remembered it was Mammoth Monday to use some Mammoth products for this first SOTD!
