There is “no way” to solve Israel’s long-term security challenges in the region and the short-term challenges of rebuilding Gaza without the establishment of a Palestinian state, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Thursday.

Speaking at a news briefing, Miller said Israel had an opportunity right now as countries in the region were ready to provide security assurances to Israel.

“But there is no way to solve their long-term challenges to provide lasting security and there is no way to solve the short-term challenges of rebuilding Gaza and establishing governance in Gaza and providing security for Gaza without the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

The comments came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a press conference he had told Washington that he objected to any Palestinian statehood that did not guarantee Israel’s security.

They don’t want to solve it…

Far right authoritarians would kill for this scenario. Look at how much American conservatives try to make it sound like Mexico is going to invade, because when people are scared, they vote for far right authoritarians

For fucks sake, Israel has been letting suitcases of cash pass from Israel to Hamas for years so they can stay operational.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/israel-sent-suitcases-of-cash-into-gaza-for-years-despite-concerns-about-funding-hamas/ar-AA1lkVMG

Israels government wanted something like 10/6 to happen because they were about to lose power.

They’d rather have some dead Israelis if it justifies an invasion and subsequently seizing land.

Same applies to Hamas. Why would they want peace when the leadership can live in luxury and remain in permanent control? If it means forcing every Palestinian to be a martyr, that’s just the price they’re willing to pay.

Hamas and Netanyahu’s government very much have a mutually beneficial relationship.

You can maybe have a Gaza state, but Israel has destroyed any hope of a united west bank that could be meaningfully called a state. Unless they also returned all stolen land, but those illegal settlers are the most extreme.

There needs to be one state with equal rights for all. That’s the most realistic way forward.

Unfortunately, this is Utopia. Something like believing that Koreas could unite or that Russia and USA will form a single state. It’s just surreal.

Its happened before when East and West Germany unified. It’s also happened in South Africa when apartheid was dismantled.

Yes but the hate between those 2 parties was far lower. In germany, western homies even welcomed their eastern colleagues. See how does it look when especially Gazans cross Israeli borders - they shoot everything what moves.

Thats literally the opposite of reality, there will never be one state as the jews wont risk a state in which they are a minority and most of the populus want them eradicated.

Christians live there fine. Jewish people lived there for centuries fine, and during the early days of Zionism they were broadly accepted up until the Revisionist Zionist project really started going for broke. They wouldn’t get eradicated anymore than all the white people got eradicated in South Africa after apartheid ended there, even though the minority pissed off the majority.

Wouldn’t Jews be the majority still? Maybe my math is off, and I’m completely and embarrassingly omitting something in the count, but it seems even if you include Gaza, the West Bank, and the Israeli occupied territories Arabs would make up 20% and Jews would make up 75%.

Even if it was 30% Palestinians and 70% Jews. Imagine that you live in a country where roughly every 3rd person wants to kill you.

Thats a racist stereotype. There are millions of Arabs living in Israel and hundreds of thousands of Palestinians worked in Israel. End apartheid and the racist regime and there would be no more reason for conflict.

I wish it was as simple as you think. People in Gaza are from the youngest age taught to kil every single Jew in the world. There are bright exceptions but a considerable amount are radicals. Do you really think that they would suddenly change their approach?

What propaganda are you talking about? I think all of us saw what happened in October and there is a lot of evidence of how education in Gaza works.

But yes, I guess it is popular to assume that Gaza and its leadership are ideal and each time someone dares to criticize it, they are spreading propaganda xD

Palestinians don’t want peace nor a state.

The want to undo the what so called “Nakba” a thing that will never happen as long as Israel exists.
