The number of out athletes competing has more than doubled since the 2019 Women’s World Cup. The total number of LGBTQ athletes in each competition is likely higher, because some players might not feel comfortable coming out publicly.

Lesbians play soccer too? No. I refuse to believe it. They’re all far too busy writing books and invading our schools to have any extra time to play soccer.

BTW…Group Play begins on July 20th.

It would probably help if NBC actually mentioned when the World Cup begins if they want to increase viewership.

Well, the article says “starts later this month” right in the first sentence. If you are interested in that cup at all and did not know the date yet, you are now aware that you should look it up within the next days in case you don’t learn it somewhere else coincidentally,

It should be normal enough, not to be an “interesting” statistic.

I know there are none, but that wasn’t the point of my earlier comment. Inclusivity doesn’t mean making a news article about everything. By doing that, the news outlet points the stat out as an anomaly. Which, if I understand it correclty, community doesn’t want

It’s interesting how open the culture is on womens side, while it’s very much a taboo on mens side

Pretty much my first thought as well. But hopefully this leads the way forward for the men’s football to become more accepting.
