Flopping was supposed to be punished after the fact with a fine, but it was rarely enforced. If they can’t enforce it with the benefit of hindsight, how are they going to enforce it in real-time?
Honestly I like enforcing it after the fact. If it’s in real time, feels like it’s just another tool for refs to use to take over the game.
This is my concern as well. Sure there will be some pretty obvious calls, but there are definitely going to be a bunch of BS flopping calls as well. It’s also quite obvious that the refs will be completely incapable of enforcing this consistently since they currently fall for flopping antics all the time.

They should make it a video refs job only. I don’t know what it is with this stubborn NBA. Most of the shit could be fixed with a permenant video ref.
Is there some general structure to big sports that suppresses video refs? It’s not just in NBA. And it’s weird given how obvious an idea it is.
I hate conspiracy theories, but it just fits that it let’s them cheese results when needed if it’s judgement calls.
Yea I feel you.
Every other level, refs and human mistakes are part of the game. For better or worse.
But the fine itself was such a weak punishment to these players. They’re millionaires, they’re not going to stop flopping for a $25k fine.
