Funny! I played it last year on mine lol
Epstein has always had close ties to MIT and there was a big scandal about them accepting donations.
It’s also been own for several years that Chomsky stayed at Epstein’s Paris home at least once, and publicly apologized for his association with Epstein iirc.

Do we know anything about why there was an announcement and then a reversal and everything?
I sort of agree with you but if liberals acknowledged and understood class alignment, they wouldn’t be liberals. I do think that the “opportunity for education” approach is more effective than outright hostility.
I find that online interactions about complicated topics can be quite frustrating, since snark and “dunking” trend to prevail. This is driven by corporate social media and spills over into other online interactions.

Just giving the app the CBS news treatment

Technically all of these responses are political. I think we know what OP meant though, and the discussion is all the better for it!

Tbf Gold_E_Lox was being snarky in the first place

Given that you’re underage, I’m going to lock this thread before it gets weird.
I hope you can find the community and support you need, especially if it is offline.
No offense (sounds like you questions were answered anyway), but I’m going to remove your post since c/asklemmy is not for support! Feel free to DM or use c/Lemmy if you need any more help!

Hell yeah! I think it’s incredibly important to understand the indigenous history of our local regions if we want to be good neighbors and allies to them. Same themes as always wherever you are in North America (disease wipes them out, genocide via killings and removals etc…), but being able to name names and dates helps bring it in close.
Maybe the mayor of your city was complicit ! Or maybe there was a town near you that had a good relationship with a local tribe! In my area there was a lake that was an important food source that was drained to become farmland. Fortunately it is now being restored.
From my reading, white settlers were not really even unwelcome, the people were excited to tap into the wealth and opportunity the settlers were bringing with them. The fact that they have been excluded from that since the beginning is disgusting. I don’t think it is too late to correct the exploitation of indigenous people and land, and if we can build a society/cultures capable of that, most other things (regarding economic equity) will fall into place alongside it.

Im not seeing an issue with the spirit of your post, maybe the other poster can clarify.
I would take a beat to reflect on the fact that not all American Indians are necessarily radicalized against the US. Doesn’t mean a radical position is incorrect, but it’s important to avoid a “white savior” trope or something like that (not saying youre doing this by posting on Lemmy, but in a different context).
It could come off like “yeah they should put their bodies on the line, and fight for what’s right!”, but if youre gonna talk like that it’s important that youre out there with or even in front of them doing the same thing. Once again I don’t think a random comment online is all that serious, but I think you and I have the same energy so I’m just thinking it through. We obviously dont want to harm or offend our comrades with the way we discuss these things!

You can turn against settlerism and stand with your indigenous neighbors! It doesn’t have to be “we did this”. It can instead be “we [American Indians and anti-colonial non-Indians] stand together against the efforts of the United States to subjugate us and the land and resources we live on!”
Reading the book “Custer Dies for Your Sins” after I saw it featured in the Smithsonian really helped get my head straight.

I’m not sure whether the quantity of deportations would have to do with the reorg, or if it has more to do with overall executive policy (or other factors).
Regardless I don’t think there needs to be a dedicated police agency dedicated to the internal enforcement of immigration. Whatever enforcent does take place does not need to be conducted by a militarized agency (which, is my primary concern with being part of “DHS”). ICE is already have been shit for a long time, not to mention the 2018 calls for “abolish ICE” because of the “kids in cages” (which were built under the Obama admin) which was already the correct call.
They don’t offer anything useful, even when they don’t have Trump’s trillion dollar funding package. Toss them and start over, it isn’t even a big deal.

Crockett is behind in the latest primary polling, right? 🙏🏻
No you pretty much laid it out in you comment, I think it tracks.
Having a misleading UI and making not-unprobable assumptions about viewers feels less problematic though?
I don’t think I particularly matters where the situation lands on the “scale of problematicness”, but youre correct it does exist and it isn’t at the far end of the spectrum. Nonetheless, it is a symptom of a greater social issue (patriarchy), and it warrants discussion and criticism.
The porn industry is made up of corporations, which will tend to reproduce the same heiarchies that exist in society, since that’s what’s most profitable. It isn’t inherently problematic to objectify people in a sexual context, however it isn’t applied equally, and is reproduced in the user controls on most porn sites.
They just assume everyone is a straight male or a gay male, so the choice that gets presented is “gay stuff” or “everything else”. This is reflected in user stats, but it is also going to be self fulfilling. It would make more sense to be able to select one or more options of the broad “straight/gay/les/other” if pornhub existed in a relatively equal society. I don’t expect them to do this, but I do expect my online community to be able to discuss it and how it both reflects and reproduces harmful social constructs.
Idk if that clarifies anything, but I think you and I are in the same ballpark?

New organizations may be required to serve the function of border protection, immigration and customs enforcement
Or even existing border patrol and CBP (and we should look at reforms to those agencies as well)

Not true, the department ment was moved under the Department of Homeland Security. This reorganization has had a demonstrable effect in how it is led. There is nothing they do that can’t be dealt with by other law enforcement. The DHS itself was a ridiculous ratcheting of the surveillance/police state “in response to 9-11” (that’s the excuse that was dropped in their lap).

You can enforce immigration and border controls without ICE. It was functioning just fine until 2003. In your attempt to find a “middle ground” position I dont think your landing pint is reasonable.
OK and they don’t have to cater in a misogynistic way, but they do, and I’m criticizing that decision.
If western countries valued peace, they would recognize that it would be more diplomatically stable to have neutral buffer States between the Russian border and the NATO countries. They also could have done more to economically integrate with post-soviet Russia in the 1990s. the reality is that NATO countries don’t actually value peace, but rather their capitalist leadership would rather “contain” capitalist Russia than integrate, so NATO expansion it has been.
Ukraine is not Russian territory, but is extremely strategically important from a military standpoint. Any discussion of NATO membership is going to be perturbed as an existential threat to Russia, this is an obvious analysis from both sides. There is no “defensive” benefit to making Ukraine a member of NATO, unless the purpose is to mantain an existential threat toward Russia.
I can’t confidently say that my analysis above justifies a Russian invasion of Ukraine, but Putin obviously doesn’t care what I think. I wish it would not have happened, but I understand what brought everything to this point, and now the Ukrainian people must suffer for decades because western imperialist forces are not interested in building a strong global peace.
