What’s going to be your main usage for the Mac?
Now I maybe an idiot and not picking up on the jokes, I’m back to Mac for the first time since Traumatic Brain Injury effected me in 2012 but I didn’t think that cleaner and app uninstallers were necessary? I had heard decades ago that they can slow down your Mac, am I wrong about that?
Is it new?
Initially, almost 20 years ago when they went with Intel and my Windows Vista laptop that super speced still ran like a one legged dog. But then for the iTunes Store, the ability to sync my iPod seemlessly, the far superior build quality and one the best features that I could actually use it on my lap as intended without worrying about blocking the fan vents on a PC laptop. When I got sick and my wife and I had to sell 4 Mac’s and 2 iPhone because we needed the money and go PC and Android I came back for the iTunes Store (yes I still buy music), the ability to use it as a laptop, the build quality and the free Apple Works Suite and Garage Band ( I’m a guitar player).
Can I go maybe a couple of years before that and say when Apple got rid the silver keyboard type that was more sunken in and for me was easier to type on. Apple has had an almost obsession with fashion over form and utility with some products, let’s get rid of ports, we have issues with select Magsafe charging so get of it, etc. This was rearing it’s a head just a bit under Steve Jobs but has accelerated under Tim Cook. It’s like Cook takes any design from Jony Ive and just says that’s awesome. Jony is a genius and unparalleled in his job but people forgot that Jony was recruited to Apple in 1992 by John Sculley and Jobs wouldn’t officially come back until 1997. So there was some kind of magic between Ive and Jobs.
Did you buy new or re-newed? I bought M1 MacBook Air with the 8 Core GPU Chip, 16GB Ram and 512GB SSD for $809.79 from the Amazon Refurb Program in “Excellent” condition back in June. It came in essentially brand. No scratch, ding or sign of wear. It was at 86% battery health but I keep my plugged in 95% of the time anyway.
