  • I just finished a rewatch of FMA:B and totally forgot that at the end, Ed sincerely talks with Truth about how being “just a human” isn’t a big deal, because even with alchemy, he couldn’t save a little girl. What happened to Nina was basically a seminal moment in Ed and Al’s life that drove them to change into who they became. I oscillate between sadness and horror about the whole ordeal. Oh, also, good meme.

  • When I was younger, I assumed that trans people wanted to transition because they felt their personality wasn’t their “assigned at birth” sex. And thus, because of society’s expectations that “men should dress and act this way” and “women have to do/be this,” a lot of people who didn’t meet that would be trans. But as I met and talked to more people, both trans and agender/genderfluid/etc., it does seem like those with body dysphoria actually feel uncomfortable in their bodies, and want a different body. But I’ve never actually asked any trans friends about it, because it does feel too personal, even though some of them are very good friends.

So, my question: if there were no gender norms or societal expectations, would you still want to transition? Would that answer change if surgery/hormones aren’t desired, and you instead do want to keep the body you were born with?

  • In my campaign, the party got attacked by a grey ooze, which corroded some weapons and the barbarian’s armor. We were all like, was the barb even wearing armor? Turns out she had it on from a previous level when it made sense, but had since taken points in Constitution (and I think a magic item gave her Sex). So, she removed her armor and her AC literally went up by 2, lol!

  • I had an old school friend I visited in Chicago, and her apartment had a locked door in her bedroom against the back wall, and her landlord had just said “it’s not used, just ignore it.” It didn’t even have a doorknob, so she had just ignored it for like 3 years. The building had been there for like 100 years.

Naturally, after some alcohol, I convinced her I could lockpick it, and we pushed her bed to the side and I spent about ten drunken minutes picking the deadbolt. We finally got it open, and discovered it was a straight-up small elevator! None of the lights or buttons worked, and we were worried about it falling, so we got out of there.

To this day, I’m not sure if it was an old building elevator for residents and her room had been a hallway, or if it was some kind of (very small) service elevator, or something for the ADA (handicapped requirements). But it was absolutely fascinating.

  • I was a huge Star Wars fan before Disney took over, and haven’t liked anything they’ve done with it. Most people agree, with 2 exceptions: Andor, which I admittedly haven’t watched yet, and…Rogue One

I don’t think Rogue One is much better than the other Disney Star Wars drivel, but I’m apparently the only person in the universe who thinks that. I’ve watched it three times and just don’t get why people think it’s good.
