Yes, there are other ways but the grid is built to rely on gas turbines for regulation and you can’t change that in a year. Even in countries that invest heavily in solar there are issues with expanding the grid fast enough.

So yeah, there’s resistance everywhere. Ultimately I took a little advice but was going to do what I wanted anyway. I don’t care if movies make vasectomies look less manly. Movies make it seem like a manly endevour is to get laid. If you’re getting a vasectomy it’s because you’re getting laid. Shaming it is dumb.

Yeah, it’s incredibly stupid but the idea is there. Many men will be worried about it…

So as I said, it’s not as simple. By the time doctors accept you know what you’re doing you are usually old enough to support family. Vasectomy doesn’t protect 20 year olds from getting someone pregnant by accident.

Someone asked us if we’re planning kids at some party recently and some other friend quickly said “you shouldn’t ask questions like that, it’s rude. you don’t know what people could be going through”. The other person simply said “you’re right” and moved on.

People are slowly learning.

I was just wandering if that’s @riqusimo experience because in my experience and from what I see vasectomy is not an easy fix (pun?) for men. Most of them are still expected to reproduce when time comes. More and more women never want kids but majority still does. Very few men will get a vasectomy before actually forming a family which is after the danger of causing unwanted pregnancy mostly passed. Even older men will be questioned about their motivation and doctors may simply refuse to perform it for younger men that don’t have kids. Not to mention that in some countries vasectomy is simply illegal (Poland). On top of that we have decades of laughing at vasectomies in media and equating it with impotence. For some stupid reason many people still think being infertile means you’re somehow less manly or something - another reason many men will thing about it twice.

So… not really as simple as riquisimo makes it sound. I wander what’s his experience and why it’s so different than mine.

But yeah, sorry for offending you with my question…

I’m not an expert but maybe the grid is not uniform in the whole country and you can’t simply inject more power in one place and less in another for everything to even out nicely? You know what I mean? Maybe it matters where the power plant is, not just how much power it generates? But I don’t know, just thinking.

So where do you think people are more happy than this? Africa? South America? Asia?

My guess is oauth. He basically used fake Microsoft account to access services during the hack and them used his actual microsoft account to access something else. He used VPN for the hack but he connected from his actual IP to the second service. The only thing linking those was the GID. So they figured out his actual IP address and checked other logins from this IP around the same time and found out his other accounts.

The naming is confusing here. In Spain the difference between AC and ‘aerotermia’ is that the second one heats water. This is the “heat pump” revolution here. Many people already use AC for heating but they have gas or electric boilers to heat water. Heatpumps are way more efficient here. When you say ‘heatpump’ you mean something that replaces a furnace? Something you plug into central heating system that heats the water and distributes it to the radiators?

Fair enough. That’s roughly 350 million people. You said 50% of people in EU live in apartments so what you said applies to about 170 million people. That’s ~1/3 of EU. I would say ~2/3 of people getting AC and/or heatpumps still counts as a revolution. But that’s nitpicking and really besides the point. Some people will not be able to upgrade, sure. Some people will install AC in their apartment and use it for heating during winter as pretty much all units they sell now do both. New buildings may also adapt to the new reality and stop installing building wide heating systems, even in the countries you listed. I think it’s obvious things will change and even if half of Europe will not be affected for now it doesn’t mean some sort of revolution is not happening.
