How abt a steam deck? What is the consensus on using it in desktop mode?

Im interested in hooking up a bluetooth keyboard to it and using it instead of my laptop when i travel. I mostly just use emacs and a browser on my pc so if i could use those two apps on the quest I would be pretty happy.
