  • I bought my Apple TV 4K back in 2020. Roku and I can’t remember which streaming service had a fight. Roku wouldn’t allow the update to come through until the app paid carriage fees. It could have been Peacock, but I can’t remember (or really care which app).

    If Roku makes money from apps paying to be on the platform, then we are right back into the cable tv model. I don’t want corporations fighting each other but my viewing held captive.

    Apple sells hardware. It makes its money because I bought their device. There’s no block on which apps can go to it.

    Amazon’s UI is horrible. Roku appears greedy. Vizio has a weird UI too, reminiscent of Amazon’s.

    Yes, there are other ways to have streaming services. My current Toshiba TV has built in Amazon Fire TV. But I still use my Apple TV as my primary device.
