It was really jarring when they started locking up the razors and requiring an employee unlock the case. The idea of placing the antitheft tags on like a bag of cheetos is so dystopian but at this point I’m not surprised. It’s going to get worse and we will see them expand their control over us with this shit. I don’t know how much further this can get but I also don’t believe in the American people to do anything meaningful to resist this for a while.

People seem to be forgetting movies. Studio Ghibli is very well known for making quality movies like Spirited Away. I also enjoyed Look Back (deals with loss) and A Silent Voice (this movie starts with a suicide attempt and very brutal bullying) which are both pg13 and probably outside her current interests. I also liked the show 86 (anti racist in a more liberal way).
I’d like to find her some good anime to watch, that isn’t full of the typical borderline porno stuff it seems is popular with G*mers.
A quick visual que I use to gauge anime is the hemline on women’s clothes (less obvious compared to every character having giant tits). The lower it is the less likely it’s got bad shit in it. Like there are good anime where the women’s skirts are above the knee but it tells me roughly how much anime bullshit I’ll need to put up with.
Edit: Also there are some battle shonen that feel partially like ads for the Japanese Self Defense Force in the same way American movies are ads to join the military. Might come up depending on what she naturally watches and I’d assume you’re against that kind of thing given where we are.

I think the polycrisis, or whatever it’s best called, makes most issues have like a dozen interlocking and self reinforcing causes and effects. It’s basically an American restaurant themed around being a rustic country general store. It has a shop at the entrance for buying shitty little knick knacks among a few other things.
There isn’t really anything good about it. It was founded by a shell executive so that they could have a restaurant chain by gas stations which makes sense based on the one near where I grew up. Recently they changed the logo and American culture is brand worship so the chuds are very upset.

This fundamentally misunderstands that capitalism is planned in the way that he talks about socialism. Corporations do have bureaucracies conducting central planning. They do all of those studies and research on market trends. They exist with unassailable, rigid power and make decisions about what we can and can’t buy, and they don’t offer us things that are good for the economy they offer us things that are good for their profits as they poison us.
Like it’s obvious to all of us here that corporate power is destroying society but this asshole wants to piss on our leg and tell us it’s raining.
It feels weird that it’s staying in the news instead of just being dropped. I’m just wondering if this is Capital (or the deep state or whatever else) trying to discipline Trump. Pushing this is probably the only thing that could cause real fractures in MAGA and clearly define who is a trump cultist.
Time will tell and it might just get dropped entirely when the next scandal inevitably starts.

Basically the closer the country was to Germany the better it did for different reasons. Czechoslovakia had a better privatization scheme and stronger industry that they would want integrated with German capital so it wasn’t looted and destroyed by international capital. Poland was given support and subsidies to be a strong NATO bulwark on Russia’s border. The Baltic states had spent centuries polishing german horse cocks so there were many people in exile after WW2 who worshipped Germany/the west and were fanatically loyal and pro NATO when they came to power and were rewarded for that loyalty. The other soviet republics had to be punished, especially the Russians. Yugoslavia was destroyed by the wars and NATO so there was nothing to really care about.

Also, I’m partially confused by the question since you mention Warsaw Pact countries and then want a focus on the western USSR. Regardless one of the most visible things in statistics is that on basically any graph of population you can see once capitalist infection starts those countries immediately had a population decline because people left the economic chaos of shock therapy, people stopped having kids, and others just fucking died. Ukraine is the worst in that regard where it turns on a dime from strong population growth to strong decline.

Exporting garbage to other countries is such a weird and sickening thing. It’s also adds more waste and pollution to this consumerist society because we can’t throw away our own trash and need to ship it half way around the world for it to be someone else’s problem.
We all know that the US constitution is essentially toilet paper and what matters is state power but I’m shocked that they’d do this. Birthright citizenship is a big deal and a foundational right for this shithole country. It’s one of the few good things that helps sell the American dream and they’re trying to throw it out. The Supreme Court can really just ignore things written in plain English if they want. Like they shouldn’t even have to hear a case to rule it unconstitutional and instead they’re allowing it to partially go ahead in this weird bureaucratic way.
Yeah, shit’s fucked. The UK and EU aren’t as far into the neoliberal rot so it surprises me that I’m hearing about it happening outside of the US before hearing about it happening in the US. Anyway, stay strong.
