Yeah, I think he’s said in the past how he clears everything with his lawyer before even releasing the podcast

I don’t think it was ever posted honestly, just the notes.
I found it interesting how he didn’t mention MySudo here, unless I missed it. Guess there were no changes to what he’s already recommended.
I thought this was a really cool episode. I had never heard about PhotoStructure or Kodi before and they both sound like the perfect way to keep all media in-house. Kinda bummed that we’re going to need to wait for at least a month to get to the hardware episode where he talks about how to build it.
On that topic, I’m kind of curious if all your self-hosting needs can be met with just one server. In this episode it sounds like he has at least two, one for pictures/videos, calendars, contacts, and notes and another box for the media he streams to his tv. Hope we get some clarification on that in the future.
I would love a PDF on self-hosting though I think it might be too much work to maintain given how quickly software changes. I think that’s the reason he only gave links to resources here rather than specific tutorials. Who knows though, hopefully I’m wrong.
And unfortunately there’s no magic behind the timestamps. I just listen to the podcast while I’m at a computer and type them into a text editor. I think it’s helpful when you want to revisit a topic he covered in an episode but don’t want to have to forward through the whole thing to find it.
I know some podcasts have chapters where you can just click on a link in your podcast player and it will take you to that specific spot so some day I want to try and see if I can “re-master” each episode by adding chapters.
Interesting. I remember there was a podcast a while back where he recommended Onyx readers. Is that the one you’re using?
I haven’t jumped into the eBook scene since I feel like you need a dedicated reader and that’s not something I see myself using much outside of an emergency. I agree though, the tech that’s out there now to support it is pretty cool.
Awesome, thanks for setting this up! I’m going to explore the controls a bit and will update the sidebar shortly as well.
This post has been thoroughly tested with both unit and end-to-end testing. :D
@jonah@lemmy.one I know you’re probably swamped with all your duties but I just wanted to follow up on this. If you’re not creating any more communities at this time just let me know and I’ll look into other instances.
I know this isn’t an answer but unless I’m using an end-to-end encrypted service like Element or Signal to communicate, I’m assuming anything I write in a DM will become public at some time. Given that, if it is something some sensitive, I will make sure to use one of those instead of the in-house DM.
A workaround is to add old.
in front of the URL and you will still be able to use it, i.e., https://old.reddit.com/r/kbinmigration)
Hi @jonah@lemmy.one , I already sent you a message but just came across this post and realized I probably should have posted here first.
Could you possibly create a community for fans of the The Privacy, Security, and OSINT Show podcast? I know a lot are unhappy with Reddit’s rection actions and would probably move here. I would be happy to moderate it and will also be posting summaries of each podcast as they drop for archival purposes. Given this is a privacy-focused instance, I think it would be a great home.
Feel free to message me here or send a PM to my through Reddit where my username is ThrowAwayAccount-_-_
if you have any questions. Thanks!
Even if not, it was a good lesson all the same. I forgot to back up 304 so I’ve learned my lesson and now am going to have to try and track it down.
