  • In Indonesia, there are localised payment system, called “Gerbang Pembayaran Nasional” (GPN) (in English: “National Payment Gateway”), and already applied and start to be commonly used since 2018.

    From Indonesian wiki:

GPN localizes the banking payment system in Indonesia, which was previously present in international payment products such as Visa and Mastercard.

I heard, atleast a Japanese online stores is also start to accepting Indonesian payment system/method too.

I think, there are similar system in Russia too, since what I know, Visa & Mastercard cease its operation on there due to the ongoing conflicts.

  • the dynamics of aviation safety, especially for this year falldown where we witness several airplane crashes that resulting more fatalities.

let say before 2024, the track record was good enough. like I didn’t read or notified much about air crashes at that time. there are several air crashes, but only few I can consider fatal or serious incident.

but now, this year alone: we have American Eagle, Air India, the Bangladeshi military jet, and today the small Russian flight. not to mention several serious incidents and also small fatal plane crashes. not to counting several major air accidents/incidents in 2024 too.

I believe there’s something going wrong here in aviation industry, resulting the overall safety deficiency. but again, my beliefs here is still kinda unproven. I read online discussions about this, but what I read, peoples on that industry can only says “we try our best”.

  • I think its will be goes to deeper specific technical & business sides to looking justification to use Oracle Java SE. Its pretty uncommon, but generally, most of us here just developing application and/or backend for commercial implementation, and didn’t require much deeper technical things, like using other JDK’s than Oracle Java SE is still handling good in most of our cases.

If you pay to Bellsoft or Azul, I think you’ll pay for commercial support from them, like if you running company and using much Java in productions, implementing Java in mass scale, and/or enterprise support, and really need or require support system from Bellsoft/Azul.

  • As @deathmetal27@lemmy.world answered, and adding my personal answer, personally I didn’t see any problem by using Amazon Corretto.

Currently, there are no contracts nor paid licenses by using Amazon Corretto in commercial use and even in enterprise environment. Nothing, just use it. Compared with Oracle Java SE where if you use it in commercial purpose, Oracle may caught and demand you to pay.

And I spent some of times in AWS too, and I felt, using dual JDK’s builds (Corretto for work, and another builds (let say Temurin or Zulu) for personal) is still kinda inefficient. This is the reason of why I stick to Amazon Corretto.

But, if you didn’t using AWS and/or didn’t like Amazon in general, nobody can force and stop you, there are alternatives, and you can use Temurin, Zulu, or Liberica.
