If you’re wondering why I’m crossposting .ml content or for an account listing of accounts used for it, please see the bottom of this megathread

  • Im not evading user blocks, I provide a listing that’s available in my bio. I have told you this and others have as well and you have flat out stated you refuse to take advantage of what tools have been given to you for “reasons”. Additionally, your story about me changes every time someone counters your arguments.

Also, I crosspost 1-1 .ml comm to non-.ml comm, any other crossposts are by others and in this specific case, it looks like because others felt this post applied to multiple comms at once. It’s a common thing, even on Reddit. (ETA: Actually, what’s even funnier, is that when I made my crosspost it only existed on the .ml comm, all the others came within the last few hours after I made mine 14 hours ago. So you basically went through the crosspost list to find mine to make your complaint LMAO)

    Actual reasons for multiple accounts:

    1. Promoting smaller instances, because of the volume of my posting it helps makes smaller instances more recognizable
    2. Making comms on fitting smaller instances (e.g. a programming comm id make on programming.dev)
    3. Mitigating against the imposter problem
    4. Better interconnecting smaller instances

Why am I cross-posting .ml content:

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to help vitilize non-.ml comms and make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some active niche comms.

    Megathread on the issue

    Some highlights from the link:

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

“If you don’t support Russia then you just don’t understand geopolitics” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415

"Don’t worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167

“See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn’t count!!” ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342

“NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!” ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven’t “seen the way” yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

  • Idk but I just kept tapping the profile button and then it just started working lmfao

You’re right, this is the first app I’ve seen that actually does not show a crosspost menu, the absolute irony that it’s the official Lemmy android app lolol

Maybe if I have some time this weekend I could fix it myself and see if dessalines will merge it lol

Can I ask why you stick with Jerboa? Years ago I used it because it was the most functional at the time of the great Reddit migration, but it was so buggy I stopped using Lemmy altogether for like 2 months until Boost came out

  • their content serves mainly to broaden their reach. I don’t think you’re making things better.

When I started this campaign months ago I had to go back 8-10 pages of the local .ml feed each morning for crossposting. Today, it’s down to 1.5-2 pages and the bulk of that is from like 2 hardcore Tankie/.ml users (yogthos and Geneva) so I’d say it’s been more helpful than bad

Moreover, your posts are so fast and frequent that they dominate at least some of communities that you target, often leaving local subscribers without a chance to post about the relevant topics on their own. Having watched it happen for more than a few weeks, I have concluded that your posts are mostly annoying, and probably do more harm than good.

I don’t expect to convince you to stop, but would you at least consider delaying your reposts by a day, and then proceeding only if nobody in your targeted community has already posted about that topic?

Can you give me some examples? A lot of the comms I post to I’m like the only one posting to. But there are some larger comms I feel like get a heavy hand of it, but bigger comms also have 2 or 3 alternatives across different instances

So maybe a better solution would be to just divvy it up amongst similar comms better?
