Now that Sakurai is dead
What, I really bought it LMAO. I don´t think Sakurai has a say on a melee HD release or something of that sort, but I’m sure Nintendo would not like to give melee (and as a consequence the sequels) any kind of attention that could diminish the sales for the next smash, only 64 I see any kind of chance of being re-released because it’s basically irrelevant. The latest smash is a great system seller, I’m sure a great percent of WiiUs were bought to be able to play sm4sh.
yes
no
The main point that always is brought up is allowing gambling/slot streaming, but yeah what you said is more or less on point (gambling gets brought up because of it direct ties to the owners/sponsors/investors with such sites).
It just occurred me how it was usually done in reddit, you could advertise in related subs, for example !games@sh.itjust.works but it’s usually done with the permission of the mods of these subs.
It would be probably pretty similar if you just started a sub on reddit or any kind of forum I guess. It interest me in particular you community, but I’m not sure how it would be the best war to solve this in general, the newcommunities shared by @bdonvr@thelemmy.club seem like a great idea to advertise without annoying many people, probably will keep an eye on that.
where’s melee? (todays daily discussion thread). Probably would be better to make it a weekly thread starting out.
At this point it seems that https://kbin.social/m/ssbm is just a bit more active (weird to say, since both are close to zero lol). and sadly there is problems with integrating them because kbin can’t get their loads in order still . I’m more likely to participate through lemmy because of preferences over the small technical/feauture differences. hopefully r/ssbm does decide to move onto a federated spaces, but I’m pretty sure the sudden change of platform would be a huge pain all around.
It would(/will hopefully) probably need making the sub at least read only permanently and linking one/some of the federated communities to move the community more or less entirely off that platform.
Absolutely not, there are few profitable esports, sponsor can enable some companies to turn a profit from SSBM, but with the hate relationship with Nintendo it’s a very minimal margin. Most profit will have to come from the fans, for example Ludwig giving a lot to the scene or the big number of fans willing to spend a chunk of their disposable income into merch, accessories and tourneys.
