    Let’s say you’re a tree. Trees have evolved to share resources. Why? Because if a tree sucks up all its local resources, and kills it’s competition, it can no longer reproduce. It may kill every single one of its neighbors, but when it needs to reproduce, who is it doing it with?

    Nature punishes greed, and a lot more negative behaviors, in the long term.

    That tree survives in the short term by killing off its competition. But long-term, it never makes it. It never has offspring.

    All of these things that our moral frameworks praise and reward, they seem to come from nature/an external source. Diligence, cooperation, responsibility, forgiveness, etc.
