  • Hey thanks! I ended up just slapping kilties on my Jim Green barefoot boots for now, that’s helped deal with the extra volume and the small toes area stretched a little with some time. I also picked up a pair of more modern vivobarefoot trackers for times I just want to leave the house without thinking ahead about rain or terrain too much. Those worked out really well for me, it turns out I have slightly wide forefeet and a relatively narrow heel so vivo is a good fit. I’ve also had some success with the Jim Green STC last, it has more small toes space in the same size vs their zero drop last and the amount of drop with one of their wedge soles is totally manageable. I’d prefer no shank but again, manageable.

The other boots I checked out were the Bearfoot Bruin Patriot, they’re also built with heritage construction methods but they were around twice the price of the JG barefoot rangers and they didn’t offer enough material or workmanship improvement to justify the cost.

Edit: I did end up sizing up to 12½ on my JG barefoot boots, there wasn’t even close to enough room for my small toes in a size 12. I’ve had success with 12½ with their barefoot and STC lasts. STC has some drop but it’s manageable with the wedge soles I’ve tried.
