jesus christ thats insane. do you plan on continuing living in southern ontario? i’ve lived all over there st.catherines, grimsby, stoney creek, hamilton, burlington. me and my wife came up here because we couldn’t afford the rent down there and some of my extended relatives own a house up here they weren’t living in and gave us a good price on rent.

yep that makes sense. i like to go backpacking with my wife and i would love to be able to carry my pack and do so barefoot. because it seems awesome and i think it’ll be funny if we happen to pass anyone along the way. in all my years of backpacking/camping i’ve never seen anyone doing it barefoot!

im still learning all this. but yeah having your own server could be easier. in my case the instance im on lemmy.one hasnt been affected at all by the beehaw thing. i can still see both. i see where the owners of beehaw are coming from i think, trying to stop the influx of unvetted user from sh.itjust.works and lemmy.world being able to post and comment. and they didnt say it was forever they were ope to reopening federation eventually if it works for them. they’re just trying to protect what they’ve worked so hard on.

I’m really considering trying this. I’ve grappled (BJJ, wrestling) for a few years and the time spent on mats while barefoot has already changed my feet considerably (more muscular, more capable) but i dont have a callus built up at all because im always on a squishy mat. when i walk on my rocky driveway it hurts. i think im going to start with a walk in the woods.

This video is great i love being barefoot. i’m also pretty unique in that I’ve broken both of my heel bones (calcaneus). It’s a horrible injury and one that not everyone recovers from. I can happily say being barefoot has helped my recovery greatly.

edit: I fell off a tall garage roof onto the driveway wearing slippers. Trying to get my cat out of a tree.
