AI can’t even really write software right now. We’re nowhere close to AGI.
People will say that it can, but cant point to one piece of software that was truly written by AI and is also not a trivial, sloppy clone of something that already exists.

Please tell us what other language you plan to use to power your front-end web app?
Yeah I ran fedora for a while when I first got this since that’s one of the official distros but it seems like it would really just be a function of the kernel itself and the laptop firmware.
Going back to fedora does not enable deep
sleep by default and I’m way too afraid to manually switch it again after having to pull the battery 5 times already in pursuit of a solution.
I’ve been told this just doesn’t/can’t work.
So basically unless someone can say “I experienced the same exact problem and here’s how I fixed it” I’m just too afraid to try again haha.
Framework advises not to pull the battery and they are not wrong in that advisement. It’s sketchy as hell.
When I enable deep
sleep it prevents me from even accessing bios, so I can’t do the firmware battery disconnect at that point.
AUR is super cool (when it’s not getting DDOSed).
Building packages from scratch isn’t that hard usually but it can be and AUR really does simplify that.
Ultimately the stakeholders make the final call that’s always how it goes in the real world.
If they get some idea that people are “stealing pictures” from the site this is what they will want. They didn’t reason themselves into that position a Dev can’t reason them out.
I’ve actually had stakeholders say we shouldn’t use JavaScript because people can see and steal our code by opening dev tools. Thankfully that was shot down but this is totally real.
You caught me (btw).
I’ve also ran fedora which is an officially support OS.
I live here dawg. My concern is leaving and coming back.
Using my framework laptop feels like a never ending struggle sometimes but I really like the idea of modular, repairable laptops so here I am.
Edit: I have the FW13 12th gen intel
deep
sleep mode causes a total system failure that can only be recovered by physically removing the battery and CMOS.FWIW this is still my daily driver but I do sometimes consider seeing if anyone wants to trade for a ThinkPad haha
Edit 2:
If anyone has insight on the deep
sleep issue I’m all eyes (biblically accurate angel mode).
So what happens if you use some bullshit OS or filesystem that’s incompatible with their software?
Like could I just uninstall my desktop environment before handing my laptop over?
Yes exactly.
“Implement a first order lowpass filter in C”
LLM has no issue.
“Implement a string reversal function in Wren”
LLM proceeds to output an unholy mix of python and JavaScript.
Even though the second task is trivial compared to the first, LLMs have almost no training data on Wren (an obscure semi-dead language).
Hope are you finding work right now? Shits rough out here haha.
I’ve been an engineer for over a decade and am now having a hard time finding work because of this LLM situation so I can’t imagine how a fresh graduate must feel.
I agree, the terminology used gives it away.
Kinda hard to find jobs right now in the midst of all this but looking forward to the absolutely inevitable decade long cleanup.
This is not how I remember windows
