I don’t completely understand the complaint. Are they saying that Piker should have left years ago? Or that he shouldn’t leave at all?

And they’re describing it like it’s somehow a political strategic error. As if there is a right move to be made on the website where you communicate in headline snippets.

            the places where people are.

            Lmao

I don’t know a single person worth knowing who uses twitter. Not a single one.

Edit: In fact, I’m not even sure if I know anyone irl who uses it.

Twitter is a social media platform. If you want to reach people and do politics then you have to go to the places where people are.

            There’s a limit to that.

Brazil has a communist collective called Soberana that their whole goal is to fight for the space that the right wing controls on the internet and they give up on xitter.

Is one thing to fight the space of Instagram/Youtube that even if is controlled by right wing their goal is to make more money while Xitter Elon tried to control it to spread reactionaries.

Also let’s be honest Xitter is not the most popular or more accessed platform, the number of users are really inflated by bots. If the goal is access to the largest number of people Instagram/Tiktok seems way more popular.

I mean functionally I don’t see any improvement here. They’re not even using Mastodon (and no not the default Mastodon server that one is just libs)

It very much is. Almost all news is posted on Twitter first. I’d wager Reddit has more (sophisticated) bots than Twitter. Many memes originate on Twitter as well. Of all the platforms you’ll find Twitter is the place stuff normally originates and then trickles down to the rest of the internet.

It’s not like I have an attachment to Naziman’s platform. I don’t interact with users there, instead I just steal their content and post it here.

The alternative to discord would be like slack or teams or sloat or Matrix, they tried Matrix but people just prefer discord so they use discord.

People don’t use Mastodon but use bluesky so they move out to bluesky.

That’s depends on the news, local shit travel faster in whatsapp/telegram groups first and are reposted on Twitter, news from outlet are posted on their sites first and reposted on Twitter, the only news that goes first on Twitter are “internet news” and people now are posting news on Instagram/Tiktok and shit like that too.

Reddit is so minor that is completely irrelevant, both Reddit and twitter is for the most online people, the “normies” uses Instagram. But I’m using the perspective of Brazil, maybe in the USA twitter is not that behind.

Twitter is objectively better than Bluesky. If you oppose genocide on Bluesky you just get banned. The entire platform is filled with libs. Mastodon’s main server has the same problem and all other servers are basically dead. Which leads us back to Twitter.

Absolutely true but Twitter is like the aggregation page along with some zinger one-liners in there. I’d love for much of the content I see on Twitter to be on Lemmy but there simply isn’t. So when I see something I like I like to share it so Lemmy has some content too.

Lemmy has lemmy.sdf which is amazing in OC but it’s its own whole thing.
