By the time the fee is shown, you’ve probably already entered your personal & payment information so most customers are left with the choice to scrap the order entirely, try to call the place and re-do it all manually/with cash, or just put up with it and pay the fee.

Very few people walk away or try to avoid the fee at that point, so it’s profitable and they keep right on doing it.
