Toxicity, however you define it, exists everywhere on the internet, on every service, in every community. It is unavoidable. There has definitely been an increase because there will always be more toxicity with more people regardless of where they come from. but I feel it’s actually lower right now than it was a few months ago during the peak of the influx when most Lemmy instances didn’t have strong moderation systems in place yet, and the trolls (and csam spammers!) were running rampant. Lemmy is learning well how to deal with it now.
